About the Artist

Hello and welcome! I am a non-binary artist who uses many types of medium in my creative practice, displaying a particular emphasis on mixed media and sculptural artmaking. Through this interdisciplinary scope, I have also tapped into the world of wearable art! I was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (USA) until 2021 where I relocated to Ottawa, Ontario (Canada) in an effort to escape the United States' increasingly hostile political scene as well as pursue a BFA in Fine and Visual Arts at the University of Ottawa. My experience of being a queer individual in the United States as well as an avid appreciator and protector of the outdoors has greatly influenced my artistic development. Throughout my work, there are many themes of genderless existence, punk culture, the divinity of natural spaces, the inherent queerness of our environment, and the religiosity of the self in addition to the spaces we inhabit. More recently, this is emulated within my practice through the use of natural and manufactured found objects, preserved insects, repurposed fabrics, and second hand materials. Through my body of work, I like to ask questions relating to human existence that encourage the viewer to contemplate and challenge current and intersectional issues through materiality and visual content. I want my practice to begin building bridges between history, environmental themes, and activism from a queer and transgender perspective.
